Giovanni Macchia is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Urbino, Department of Pure and Applied Sciences. He holds a degree in Astronomy from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Humanities from the University of Urbino. He has been a Visiting Scholar in the USA (Universities of Pittsburgh and Rutgers) and in Canada (Western Ontario), where he also held a postdoctoral position. He has taught physics, mathematics, and science in secondary schools, as well as courses in Methods of Scientific Knowledge (University of Bologna) and Epistemology (University of Urbino). His research focuses on the foundations of physics and the history and philosophy of modern cosmology, with additional interests in time travel, the metaphysics of time, and the philosophy of science. His work has appeared in journals such as Axiomathes, Foundations of Science, Studies in History and Philosophy of Modern Physics, and Synthese. In 2024, he published Come può l’universo espandersi?
